Welcome!!
Hi!
My name’s Larry Thompson, and I’m a musician from Windsor Ontario, Canada.
Welcome to my blog. Nothin’ fancy here. Nothin’ to sell. Just a place of hope and maybe a little inspiration.
Let me explain why “My Act 3”.
There’s a fairly familiar format in a 3 act play that the runs something like this…
Act 1 – We meet the characters. Survey the environment. Recognize some backstory. Identify the pending conflicts and potential love interests. Often in a musical, the hero or heroine might sing a song of desire or longing that serves as a sort of road map for balance of the story.
Act 2 – This is where all the action happens – relationships develop, adventure ensues, drama prevails with wins and losses, the dragon is slain, passion and heartache, victory and loss, – all the ups and downs of our shared experience.
Act 3 – This is where the protagonist finally figures it out – they recognize their gifts and purpose – gains the ability to turn all the mess of Act 2 into wisdom that will be passed along to others. It’s another retelling of the Hero’s Journey. Most stories are.
I thought I’d share these posts, not as any kind of expert or someone who has even come close to getting his poop in a group. I expect there’s a bunch of us “of a certain age” that wonder how the balance of our days will play out – when we finally embrace the realization that there are only so many summers left with so much left to do.
It’s my intention to post once each week(ish) and report successes and failures, new discoveries and likely some stuff I forgot that I can discover all over again.
Maybe if I can find my way through this, you’ll be able to find your path – wherever that leads.
Please click a title below that looks interesting and see if there’s something here for you.
I hope that you’ll find encouragement and a sense of camaraderie. These days aren’t always easy. Even less so when it seems you’re navigating them alone.
You’re not…
